Get ready to enjoy a fun-filled weekend at the 17th annual Moss Rock Art Festival! The festival will take place November 5-6, 2022 at the Hoover Met Complex. See and purchase some of the best art, design, nature, and smart living exhibits showcased by over 125 artists. Enjoy live music and performances, partake of craft beer tasting in the beer garden, and great food at the café. The Moss Rock Art Festival is a family affair. WonderKid Studios
At the WonderKids Studios, talented local artists use nature for creative projects influenced by nature, science, and recycling. Some of this year’s workshops will be inspired by the endangered Monarch Butterfly. Here are some of the free art studios:
The Milkweed Garden
Teaching Artist: Rhiannon Reese
A large-scale painting project involving a milkweed plant background with colorful, collaged monarch butterflies flitting about.
Metamorphosis: clay caterpillars, chrysalis, and butterflies
Teaching Artist: Mohamed Jalloh
Young artists will explore all stages of the butterfly’s development.
Monarch Mayhem
Teaching Artist: Kinch Raby
Kids will create three-dimensional butterflies using string, yarn, raffia, beads, pipe cleaners, and jewels.
The Garden of Wonderful Things
Teaching Artist: Jamira Rice
Kids will create everything from flowers to bees to mermaids using pipe cleaners, styrofoam balls, markers, and lots of imagination to create sculptures for a Festival Garden.
Festival Café
Kids will love snow cones and kettle corn from D&M Snow Cones and Naughty But Nice Kettle Corn. These sweet treats are sure to make any child’s day.
Take Root: A Tree Legacy
Both you and your children can experience caring for trees in our community by picking up seeds of Sugar Maple, Buckeyes, and more to take home and plan together from the Take Root Boot: A Tree Legacy Project booth 214-216.
