If your children love sea creatures, it’s time to plan a road trip to Chattanooga to come face to face with a variety of freshwater and saltwater species. Located on the city’s riverfront, River Journey exhibit features otters, catfish, turtles, trout, and more. Ocean Journey, the second exhibit, introduces visitors to penguins, stingrays, and butterflies, as well as a breathtaking coral reef that’s home to large sharks and schools of fish.
Don’t to miss the new Alligator Bayou in the Delta Country exhibit. Get up close and personal with a dozen alligators patrolling the waters in front of a Cajun shack and learn about the importance of wetland habitats. Have your children download the free TN Aquarium app so they can become “High-Tech Animal Trackers.” Children become biologists hot on the trail of a rare, threatened, or rarely seen animal.
