On behalf of the Board of Directors, it is with great pleasure to extend to the members of the Alabama Bandmasters Association and music educators to attend a reception with NEA Jazz Bassist Ron Carter at the newly renovated Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame. Established in 1978, the AJHoF honors educators, musicians, and composers from Alabama who have significantly contributed to jazz music, an art form uniquely born in America and celebrated worldwide. As we say, “Jazz Created in America, Enjoyed Worldwide.”
Our previous inductee was the renowned singer, musician, and actor Harry Belafonte. This year, we are honored to induct jazz bassist Ron Carter, whose Alabama roots trace back to Lee County. His illustrious career was recently highlighted in the PBS documentary “Ron Carter: Finding the Right Notes,” which was aired on Alabama Public Television.
