Rough Notes: Pigs in the Sky is an interactive collaborative art installation that is part of an ongoing body of work, Rough Notes, by Hugh Patton. Rough Notes aims to explore and interpret the historic site at Sloss Furnaces and draw connecting lines from the past to the contemporary use, function, and context of the site. Pigs in the Sky in particular focuses on the historic workers, their bodies, their mythology, and how their memories are still ever present on these grounds. This piece combines poetry, video projection, and sculpture as a vehicle for each of the artists’ own interpretations, adaptations, research and somatic relationships to Sloss Furnaces in order to reflect on how these struggles, memories, mechanisms/systems, and people can speak to us today in a resounding relevant way.
This exhibition features work from Hugh Patton, Melissa Yes, and Salaam Green.
