Get ready to “drop it low” on the dance floor with The Literacy Council at the Books, Bands, & Brews: Beats Edition event on Tuesday, August 27 @ The Fennec in downtown Birmingham. A night of great hits, food, and fun. Contributions and sponsorships collected through ticket sales for the event will support literacy programs in Central Alabama. A complimentary happy hour for all who purchase tickets will start at 6:00 p.m.
The Junior Board of The Literacy Council of Central Alabama hosts this 3rd Annual Books, Bands, & Brews: Beats Edition to support the increased need of TLC literacy programs.
The Literacy Council’s mission is to improve the lives of adults and their families through literacy education that teaches people to read, write, and speak English. With more than 58% of adults in Central Alabama who need to improve their literacy skills, TLC’s programs are essential. In seven counties throughout central Alabama, The Literacy Council offers adult basic literacy programming through one-on-one and group instruction, GED preparation, support for workforce development, and a robust ESOL program teaching English to individuals from 70 countries.
